Day 1 – Edinburgh to Oban via Loch Lomond & the Scottish Highlands

Continue into the stunning landscapes of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, one of Scotland’s most beautiful national parks and a must-see destination for first time visitors to Scotland.

Enjoy time to explore the picturesque conservation village of Luss on the shores of Loch Lomond before travelling through dramatic Highland scenery to the famous Rest and Be Thankful viewpoint. Continue to the historic whitewashed town of Inveraray, home to Inveraray Castle and stunning Loch Fyne scenery, before arriving in the beautiful coastal town of Oban, known as the “Gateway to the Isles”, where you will stay overnight.

Day 2 – Oban to the Isle of Skye

Leaving Oban behind, travel north through some of the most spectacular scenery in the Scottish Highlands. Stop for views of the iconic Castle Stalker, one of Scotland’s most photographed castles, before continuing through the dramatic landscapes of Glencoe, famous for its towering mountains and fascinating Highland history.

Travel onwards to the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct, known worldwide from the Harry Potter films, where you can admire sweeping Highland views and learn about Scotland’s Jacobite history. Continue to the fishing port of Mallaig and board the scenic ferry to the magical Isle of Skye, one of Scotland’s most breathtaking destinations. Enjoy two nights on Skye, allowing plenty of time to experience the island’s incredible beauty.

Day 3 – Full Day Exploring the Isle of Skye

Spend a full day discovering the spectacular landscapes of the Isle of Skye, widely considered one of the highlights of any Scotland tour itinerary. Your private guide will tailor the day to your interests while showcasing Skye’s most famous locations and hidden gems.

Depending on your preferences, possible highlights include the dramatic Old Man of Storr, the breathtaking landscapes of The Quiraing, the coastal cliffs of Kilt Rock, the stunning Fairy Pools, the rugged Cuillin Mountains, and the colourful harbour town of Portree. This personalised approach makes the tour perfect for first time visitors to Scotland and US travellers wanting to experience the very best of Skye at their own pace.

Day 4 – Isle of Skye to Inverness via Loch Ness

Leaving Skye via the Skye Bridge, visit the iconic Eilean Donan Castle, one of the most famous castles in Scotland. Continue through the dramatic scenery of Glen Shiel before stopping at the beautiful Invermoriston Falls on the shores of Loch Ness.

Travel alongside the legendary Loch Ness, where there will be the option to enjoy a Loch Ness cruise and visit Urquhart Castle, one of Scotland’s most spectacular castle ruins overlooking the loch. Continue to the Highland capital of Inverness for your overnight stay.

Day 5 – Inverness, Culloden & Cairngorms National Park

Today explore Scotland’s rich history with visits to the historic Culloden Battlefield, the site of the final Jacobite Rising, and the ancient standing stones of Clava Cairns, believed to have inspired scenes in Outlander.

Continue south through the stunning landscapes of the Cairngorms National Park, the largest national park in the UK and one of the highlights of the Scottish Highlands. Along the way, enjoy the opportunity to visit a traditional Speyside whisky distillery and experience Scotland’s world-famous whisky heritage. Overnight in the beautiful region of Royal Deeside, long associated with the British Royal Family.

Day 6 – Royal Deeside, St Andrews & Return to Edinburgh

Your final day begins with a visit to the beautiful gardens of Balmoral Castle (subject to the Royal Family not being in residence). Continue along the scenic SnowRoads route through the spectacular Highland landscapes of Glenshee, one of Scotland’s most scenic mountain passes.
