Liz with Brian, Sue, Barry and Susan at Duart Castle

A Week of Whisky

Ideally starting in Glasgow – a brilliant 6 night/7 day tour. Your tour will take in famous distilleries as well as stunning Scottish scenery and can be personalized to suit all budgets

Day 1: Marcus meets you with a dram and whisks you away to the “west is best” coast. Your first dram can be either at the Clydeside Distillery or Auchentoshan Distillery. Then via Loch Lomond on to Oban, we suggest The Taste of Oban Tutored Tasting, or just wander around this lovely old seaside town. Check into your hotel in an executive room with sea views – welcome to Oban the seafood capital of Scotland! We’ll have reserved dinner for you, so enjoy.

Day 2: This morning a glorious sail to the isle of Mull (45 mins), then up to the quaint wee town of Tobermory. Here you take The Warehouse One Experience then time for lunch in a local pub. For those non drinkers, explore the harbour and lovely friendly shops. If you wish, visit the 14th century Duart Castle, home of the Chief of the Clan Maclean. Return to Oban and overnight as above.

Day 3: Head north today, stopping en route, see the immense Loch Ness and visit the ruined Urqhuart Castle if you wish. Time for lunch in Fiddlers a great pub cum whisky bar. Then on to Inverness with maybe a private whisky tasting in a shop we know. There’s also Uilebheist, the new whisky distillery on the banks of the river. Overnight Inverness.

Day 4: Many distillery option: We can take you to Glenmorangie, Glen Ord, Balblair or maybe Dalmore (from 2026), chat with us. Return to Inverness, where you stay overnight.

Day 5: Heading south into the Cairngorm mountain range. You can visit the fairly new Cairn Distillery, Tomatin Distillery and Tomintoul who are now taking tours. Alternatively visit Royal Lochnagar Distillery. If you’re into history you may wish to go to Balmoral Castle, the Scottish home of our Royal Family. End the day in the pretty highland village of Ballater, in the centre of Royal Deeside.

Day 6: Heading south into Angus, distillery options: Fettercairn, Glencadam (opening soon), Arbikie. Alternatively you can go to St Andrews (home of golf) and tour Lindores Abbey Distillery. Spend your final night at The Royal George Hotel in Perth. If you wish we can arrange a private dinner and whisky tasting.

Day 7: Heading south you can take your final tasting, at the French owned Tullibardine Distillery (superb wine finishes), sampling their core range of 6 drams. Or take a tour at the recently reopened Rosebank Distillery before Marcus leaves you in Edinburgh
