Art in Edinburgh's Georgian New Town

This tour based on the art of Edinburgh's New Town is designed to allow the visitor realise the art connected with this part of the city which other tours may not make clear and are just waiting to be discovered.

Edinburgh's New Town is an United Nations World Heritage Site and was built to relieve the squalor, filth and overcrowdedness of Edinburgh's Royal Mile and the streets running off it.  This was started in the 1760s. 

Over the decades and centuries the art world had an affect on this part of the city and continues to do so and it is this art that I will uncover for you on my tour of Edinburgh's New Town.  This includes

1. Where a world famous composer played towards the end of his life.

2. The home of perhaps, Scotland's most famous author and the happy and tragic events in his life. 

3.  A stunning red gallery in the centre of the city with a rare statue of one of our more famous monarchs, Mary, Queen of Scots from the 16th century. 

4. The former site of 16th century castle and 18th century theatre.

5. The work of the much under appreciated Amelia Robertson Hill, a 19th century sculpter.

I hope you will join me on this tour and discover for yourself what this wonderful, but still overlooked part of Edinburgh has to offer.
