Stirling

Linlithgow palace, Blackness &Stirling Castle Guided Private Tour

Explore Scotland’s royal and historic landmarks on this full-day tour from Edinburgh. See the Forth Bridges, visit Stirling and Blackness Castles, and discover Linlithgow Palace, birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots.

Forth Bridges

Enjoy a scenic stop overlooking the Firth of Forth and its three remarkable bridges: the Forth Bridge, Forth Road Bridge and Queensferry Crossing.

The iconic red Forth Bridge is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Scotland’s most recognisable landmarks. Opened in 1890, its dramatic cantilever design remains one of the greatest achievements of Victorian engineering.

Next to it stands the Forth Road Bridge, a suspension bridge opened in 1964 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. At more than 2.5 kilometres long, it was once one of the longest suspension bridges in the world.

The newest bridge, the Queensferry Crossing, opened in 2017. Its modern cable-stayed design completes this impressive trio, creating one of Scotland’s most memorable views.

Stirling Castle

Stirling Castle is one of Scotland’s most important and impressive historic landmarks. Standing high above the city of Stirling, it has played a central role in Scotland’s history for centuries as both a royal residence and military stronghold.

Visitors can explore the magnificent Great Hall, Royal Palace, Chapel Royal and defensive walls, while enjoying panoramic views across central Scotland. The castle was closely connected with the Stewart monarchs and was the place where Mary Queen of Scots was crowned in 1543.

Stirling Castle is a must-see destination for anyone interested in Scottish royalty, history and architecture.

Admission fee not included in the tour price.

Blackness Castle

Blackness Castle is a dramatic medieval fortress standing on the shores of the Firth of Forth. Often described as “the ship that never sailed” because of its unusual shape, the castle has served as a royal residence, prison and military stronghold throughout its long history.

Visitors can explore its atmospheric courtyards, towers and ancient rooms while enjoying beautiful views across the water towards Fife. Its dark stone walls and waterfront setting make it one of Scotland’s most striking and photogenic castles.

Blackness Castle is an ideal stop for visitors interested in medieval history, Scottish castles and dramatic coastal scenery.

Admission fee not included in the tour price.

Linlithgow Palace

Linlithgow Palace is one of Scotland’s most beautiful royal ruins, located beside Linlithgow Loch in West Lothian. Once a favourite residence of the Stewart monarchs, the palace is best known as the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots in 1542.

Visitors can walk through the grand remains of the Great Hall, royal apartments, chapel and courtyard, where the impressive Renaissance fountain still stands. The palace offers a fascinating glimpse into the lives of Scotland’s royal family during the 15th and 16th centuries.

Its peaceful lochside setting also makes Linlithgow an ideal place for photographs and a relaxing walk before returning to Edinburgh.

Admission fee not included in the tour price.
