You can start the Kyle Line from either Inverness or Kyle of Lochalsh.

There is lots of things to do in and around Inverness - explore Scottish history at nearby Culloden Battlefield or spend a day at nearby Loch Ness.

    Did you know?

    This beautiful Highland city was where Claire and Frank had their second honeymoon in the Outlander novels.

    Take a walk through the capital of the Highlands, Inverness. Head along the banks of the River Ness and explore the Ness Islands, a series of small wooded islands connected by a footbridge. If you've got a few hours to fill during the day, you could visit the Inverness Botanic Gardens or the Inverness Museum & Art Gallery.

    In the evening, you might catch some live folk and traditional music at pubs such as Hootanannay or Gellions Bar, and enjoy a large glass of your favourite tipple. You could also check out some of the city's events at arts and music venues, such as the Ironworks and Eden Court Theatre.

  • Attadale Attadale

    Attadale Gardens

    Attadale is a 30,000-acre estate and one of Scotland's truly wild areas. There is walking, fishing and overnight accommodation available.

    Nearby is the amazing Attadale Gardens with acres of spectacular greenery and flora. Wander around the water gardens, spot hidden outdoor sculptures, see the giant 35 ft sundial, or follow the rhododendron walk to see some stunning, colourful blooming bushes.

  • Plockton Plockton

    Situated in a sheltered bay of Loch Carron, Plockton is picture-perfect. The coastline of the village begs to be explored, with its beautiful shoreline of fine white sand. A walk to the bay known as Coral beach is well worth it for anyone who wants to enjoy some fresh sea air and stretch their legs.

    In the summer months, you can take a boat trip on the sea loch and discover an array of wildlife wonders, from elusive otters to sleek herons.

    Look out for

    The hilltop viewpoint at Am Ploc. Look out for the sign at the north end of the main street.

    Plan a longer trip to Skye.

    This village is the gateway between the north-west Highlands and the isle of Skye. You can travel by private vehicle or bus via the Skye Bridge, which runs over the Inner Sound to Kyleakin.

    Kyle of Lochalsh has pretty, white-washed buildings, a variety of accommodation, and independent shops to explore. The railway station is home to the Kyle Line Museum.
