Bubble Tour: Chase Me | Black Isle Explorer

Safe | Personal | Exclusive | Bubble Tours by Airts & Pairts: Our Chase Me Tours are our answer to the current situation. Enjoy the benefits of a driver-guided tour on this self-drive socially-distanced adventure.

In your own vehicle, you follow us and our Mini to the most amazing places in the Scottish Highlands. You stay in your bubble, we stay in ours and together we visit popular sites and hidden gems away from the crowds, waiting to be explored.

Lovely Scenery, Fantastic Local Food & Unexpected Twists

The Black Isle, actually a peninsula, is the most fertile area in the Highlands and could just as well be called the local larder: Fields of cereal crops dominate the varied landscape that features historical sites and a wealth of local and artisan food producers such as the Black Isle Brewery, the only organic brewery in Scotland.

We start our tour with a drive along the picturesque Beauly Firth to Wardlaw Mausoleum, the legendary burial place of Simon Fraser, also known as „Lord Lovat of the ‘45” or the “Old Fox”. Just recently, his exciting story took a rather unexpected twist.

We then follow the footsteps of the Frasers into the lovely town of Beauly where we visit the ruins of Beauly Priory with the tomb of the 7th chief of the Mackenzies of Kintail. The cemetery is a real treat for tombstone tourists but if you are more after culinary delights, you will enjoy our next stop even more: We pay a visit to the bad girls of Muir of Ord who make fantastic cake. No need to ponder about this extra slice, just go for it! You are in the „Land o‘ Cakes“ after all.

The back road now takes us into the former SPA town of Strathpeffer where we visit the Pictish Eagle Stone that is linked to a prophecy of the famous Brahan Seer. Through towns, villages and hamlets and with a few photo stops en route, we now head to the tip of the Black Isle into the charming village of Cromarty, birthplace of geologist and writer Hugh Miller. Cromarty is a real gem worth discovering on a stroll and if you are up for a savoury treat, we know just the right place.

We always take the scenic route and make no exception on our way to Chanonry Point where we may spot the Moray Firth dolphins and will hear of the Brahan Seer again. His prophecies are still strong in local folklore and so are the beliefs in the healing qualities of the nearby Clootie Well.

Time for that brewery now! After touring the brewery, we return to Inverness.
