Edinburgh Castle

Edinburgh Old and New Town Private Tour

A private, chauffeur‑driven tour exploring the best of Edinburgh’s Old Town, New Town, Rosslyn Chapel, and the East Lothian coast — with iconic landmarks, panoramic viewpoints, and a relaxed pace throughout.

Saltire Executive Travel invites you to discover the very best of Scotland’s capital on a relaxed and beautifully curated private tour.

Blending iconic landmarks, sweeping viewpoints, and stories from centuries of Scottish history, this experience offers a complete introduction to both the Old Town and the New Town, with a few special highlights beyond the city.

Your chauffeur‑guide will collect you from your Edinburgh hotel or cruise ship before we begin exploring the city’s most celebrated sights.

Our first stop is the Edinburgh Castle, perched high on its volcanic rock and offering panoramic views across the city. You’ll have time to explore the fortress and immerse yourself in its remarkable history.

We continue through the Old Town, travelling along the historic Royal Mile with its cobbled streets, traditional shops, and lively atmosphere. Key landmarks include St Giles’ Cathedral and the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the King’s official residence in Scotland.

From here, we head to Calton Hill, one of Edinburgh’s most famous viewpoints. Its sweeping skyline views provide the perfect opportunity for photographs and a deeper appreciation of the city’s dramatic architecture.

We then explore the elegant New Town, known for its Georgian townhouses, grand squares, and wide boulevards. Highlights include Princes Street, Charlotte Square, and The Georgian House.

Leaving the city centre, we travel to the beautifully atmospheric Rosslyn Chapel, renowned for its intricate stone carvings, unique symbolism, and the legends that surround it.

The tour continues with a scenic drive along the East Lothian coastline, where you’ll enjoy picturesque fishing villages, peaceful harbours, and stunning coastal views.

We finish at the Forth Bridge Viewpoint, offering a striking look at one of Scotland’s greatest engineering achievements, before returning you to Edinburgh in comfort.

This itinerary is fully flexible. Whether you’d like extra time at a favourite stop, a coffee break with a view, or a detour to explore something unique, we’re happy to tailor the day to your interests.
