Tour Highlights

  • Pick up from location
  • South Queensferry
  • Forth Bridges
  • Blackness Castle
  • Linlithgow Palace
  • Drop off at location

Travel to the beautiful town of South Queensferry with its narrow, cobbled streets and perfect views of the Firth of Forth. Here stands the Forth Bridge or Forth Rail Bridge which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built between 1882 and 1889 it is a symbol of Scotland and a triumph of Victorian heavy engineering. Built alongside is the Forth Road Bridge (1960’s) and now alongside it is the brand new Queensferry Crossing known locally as Nicola’s bridge after the Scottish First Minister.

Blackness Castle is a 14th century fortress known as the “ship that never sailed” due to its shape. The castle stands on the banks of the Firth of Forth and was used as a supply base by Edward 1 in the Wars of Independence right up until the Second World War due to its proximity to Rosyth naval base. The castle stood in for Fort William in Outlander and is where Jamie famously rescued Claire from the clutches of Captain Jack Randall by climbing through a window high above the sea.

After lunch in Linlithgow with its historic town centre visit Linlithgow Palace. This was one of the principal residences of the Scottish monarchs of the 15th and 16th centuries and birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. The palace was also used for filming scenes in Outlander where it doubled for Wentworth Prison.

This is a full day tour with lunch at a variety of places in Linlithgow however can be shortened to a half day tour if desired. Contact us for more information.

Scottish Classic Tours is managed by husband and wife, Duncan and Linda Cullen, both of whom share a love of Scotland, classic cars and history. Tours can be either half or full day dependent upon time spent at each location and where your pick up and drop off points are. Call or email to discuss your tour ideas on 07595 187123 or scottishclassictours@gmail.com.
