Le tout premier parc national d'Écosse a été fondé en 2002, même si la beauté des paysages, les charmants villages, les habitants merveilleux, la faune et toutes les autres qualités magiques qui en font l'un des meilleurs endroits à visiter en Écosse existent depuis bien plus longtemps.

Couvrant 720 miles carrés, le parc national du Loch Lomond et des Trossachs est d'une taille assez ancienne et offre une gamme variée de paysages et de possibilités touristiques. Des belles rives du plus grand Loch (lac) d'Écosse, le Loch Lomond, d'une superficie de 71 km², aux sommets accidentés des Alpes d'Arrochar et aux routes pittoresques à voie unique des Trossachs, pour n'en citer que quelques-unes.

Le Loch Lomond possède de nombreux records britanniques, c'est le plus grand loch (lac) d'eau douce, il possède le plus grand nombre d'îles parmi tous les lochs d'eau douce et également la plus grande île d'eau douce d'Inchmurrin. La plupart des îles sont inhabitées et regorgent d'animaux sauvages tels que les daims, les chevreuils, les balbuzards pêcheurs, les faucons pèlerins, les loutres, les grands tétras et... ?
