Dufftown

Otherworldly Walk Dufftown: Stories of Fate and Folklore

Step into Dufftown’s hidden past on a guided story walk through myth, history and local legend. From outlaw tales to ancient sites, uncover the stories that shaped the Malt Whisky Capital of the World.

Step beyond the surface of Dufftown on a guided story walk that explores the deeper layers of this historic Highland town.

This small-group experience weaves together local folklore, recorded history, and the older beliefs that once shaped life here. Along the way, you’ll encounter tales of witches, the legacy of the Picts, outlaw stories that still echo through the streets, and the quiet presence of places long tied to ritual, fate and memory.

Moving at an unhurried pace, the walk invites you to see familiar landmarks differently. From the town’s historic heart to its more overlooked corners, each stop reveals a story that connects past and present, blending myth with lived experience.

Rooted in both history and folklore, this is not a traditional tour, but a story-led experience designed to offer a deeper, more reflective connection to place. Whether you’re drawn by curiosity, heritage, or the pull of something just beyond explanation, you are invited to step into the story.
