Voted the world’s friendliest city, Glasgow is one of Europe’s most vibrant and dynamic places. An absolute must for any visitor to Scotland with unquestionably the best shopping facilities in the country.

For those wanting to experience the equivalent of Dublin’s Temple Bar area or Edinburgh’s Rose Street, then enjoy a walk down the cobbled backstreet of Ashton Lane in the West End, famous for its bars, restaurants and a licensed cinema.

If you want to learn of the real history of Glasgow, visit the People’s Palace, which tells the city’s story from 1750 to the present day. Here you can experience a wonderful insight into how Glaswegians lived, worked and played in years gone by, while the adjacent Winter Gardens is filled with exotic palms and plants.

Perhaps, the famous , the oldest remaining house in Glasgow, built in 1471 or the Necropolis, the famous burial ground of the wealthy Glasgow merchants and industrialist of the 18th and 19th centuries or Glasgow Cathedral used in the TV Series Outlander and Outlaw King are on your list of places to see? Adjacent is the St Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art. Discover the origin of the city’s coat of arms and the legend.

Here is the bird that never flew

Here is the tree that never grew

Here is the fish that never swam

Here is the bell that never rang

Famous for its numerous parks, Pollok Park used in Outlander and home to the Burrell Collection, is one of Europe’s finest or Kelvingrove Park, home to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. Visit George Square used for film and TV productions such as Outlander and World War Z.

Glasgow University, the fourth oldest in the English-speaking world and the most magnificent example of Gothic revival architecture in Britain, also used for filming scenes from Outlander.

Glasgow was once the ship building and locomotive capital of the world. Clydebuilt located in the former regenerated Clyde shipyard area of the city explains how Glasgow once dominated heavy engineering for almost 200 years.

Glasgow’s beauty, charm and the locals’ sense of humour will enthral and capture you like nowhere else, no matter when you visit. Like their motto says, People Make Glasgow.
