St Andrews

St Andrews Private Day Tour from Edinburgh

Full-day private tour from Edinburgh to St Andrews, the “Home of Golf”, with photo stop at the Forth Bridge, time in the fishing village of Anstruther and a visit to Falkland village and palace, travelling in comfort with an expert local driver-guide

Leave the big buses behind and spend a relaxed day discovering the Kingdom of Fife and the historic town of St Andrews on a fully private tour. Your driver-guide collects you from your Edinburgh accommodation or a central meeting point and you head north across the Firth of Forth with a stop to admire and photograph the iconic Forth Bridge. Ed Private Tours

From here the road follows rolling farmland to the East Neuk of Fife and the traditional fishing village of Anstruther. Enjoy a short walk along the harbour and time for coffee or a snack while your guide shares stories about the coast and its history. Ed Private Tours

Arriving in St Andrews, you have several hours to explore at your own pace. Options include the atmospheric ruins of St Andrews Cathedral and Castle, the cobbled streets and historic quads of the University, the sweeping sands and, of course, the Old Course and famous Swilcan Bridge. Golf fans can browse the many golf shops or visit the British Golf Museum, while others may prefer independent cafés, shops and viewpoints. Ed Private Tours

In the afternoon the tour continues inland to the village of Falkland, with its Renaissance palace and lovely gardens, used as a filming location in Outlander. You can visit Falkland Palace & Garden (entry not included) or simply enjoy a stroll through the village before the drive back to Edinburgh in the early evening. Ed Private Tours

Throughout the day your guide tailors the pace and stops to your interests, whether that’s golf, royal history, film locations or coastal scenery. Travel is in a comfortable air-conditioned Mercedes vehicle with bottled water provided, making this a relaxed and family-friendly way to experience one of Scotland’s most charming regions. Ed Private Tours

Good to know:

– Approx. duration: 8 hours.

– Private tour for up to 7 guests. Ed Private Tours

– Entrance fees and meals are not included. Falkland Palace & Garden currently charges around £18 per adult, payable locally (prices may change). Ed Private Tours

– Not wheelchair accessible; some walking on uneven and historic surfaces is involved. Service animals are welcome and the tour is close to public transport at the Edinburgh start/end point.
