Whisky Prestige Blenders Tour

This chauffeur driven 2 day tour for the whisky enthusiast ventures into the beautiful Western Highlands of Scotland. It takes in 4 very different distillery experiences, an overnight stay in Oban and some truly spectacular scenery on the way.

On Day 1 in chauffeur driven comfort, we start on our first distillery visit and tour at the beautiful and historic Blair Atholl, the brand home of Bell’s whisky, they also have a fine Blair Atholl single malt.

The distillery is situated in the lovely Victorian town of Pitlochry. We will stop in town for a chance for some lunch or a short walk around town before moving on. Situated at the foot of Ben Vrackie on the River Tummel it really is in a stunning location in the heart of Scotland. There is plenty to see here and there is a great choice of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants all within easy reach on the main street. If you prefer, there are beautiful outdoor spaces and river walks to take advantage of.

Next, we make our way to the Dalwhinnie Distillery, beautifully located right in the heart of the highlands. This is the highest distillery in all of Scotland sitting at 352m above sea level, yet still dwarfed by the surrounding Cairngorm mountains. It really is a special location, producing a range of Dalwhinnie single malt and blended whiskies. Here we will take a tour of the distillery to understand the full whisky making process with a chance, of course, to taste a dram or two at the end of the tour. We will round this off with a visit to the distillery shop before we depart.

Leaving Dalwhinnie, we then make our way North and well into the Western highlands of Scotland. The scenery is absolutely stunning as we make our way to Oban and our stop for the night. The evening is yours to spend as you wish. There are many choices of bars and restaurants to be found and your host is always there to help with recommendations. There are some amazing sunset views over the bay to the Isle of Mull.

On day 2 we will have a nice easy start and after breakfast we will take the short trip to the Oban distillery, which is literally on our doorstep. They produce a fantastic whisky here, with a brilliant range of single malt and blended whisky variants to choose from. We will take the Oban Cask Signature experience tour here. This is a discussion about the craftsmanship involved in producing Oban single malt, while enjoying a dram. It ends in the store where you will try a unique cask- drawn sample and receive a free gift from the distillery.

Bidding farewell to Oban we start our journey south towards the Glengoyne distillery, not far from Loch Lomond. On the way we will drive through the breath-taking Rest and Be Thankful pass where we can have a stop at the viewpoint for photographs. We will also make a stop on the banks of Loch Fyne in Inveraray for some lunch or a bit of shopping, or just a walk around the town and pretty harbour, as you prefer.

On arrival at the Glengoyne distillery, our final stop, we will take part in the Collections tour where you will delve into the process of whisky production at the slowest stills in Scotland. This is followed by a tutored tasting of 3 whiskies from the Glengoyne collection, paired with truffles from The Highland Chocolatier. A truly amazing experience all round.

We then make our way back to Edinburgh and the end of our tour. You will be dropped at your hotel or chosen location before parting ways taking lasting memories with you.

The journey

Our journey will take us past some of Scotland’s most amazing locations. Starting in Edinburgh in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle, standing watch over Scotland’s capital, there has been evidence of a fort on the rock since the iron age around 1200 BC, this is the most besieged location in Britain. We leave the city and before long we are in Scotland’s wide-open space. We will pass the amazing Steel structure The Kelpies built in 2014, they stand proudly in Helix park and are clearly visible from the road.

Next, we are in battle country and we will pass Stirling castle and the Bannockburn battle site, these are locations of much bloodshed in Scotland’s history.

As we head further north, we will be passing through some of Scotland’s stunning countryside with mountains that are only topped by Ben Nevis, the highest in Britain, and forests where the tallest trees in the country stand.

Your tour includes pick up and drop off at your location of choice, exclusive use of a chauffeur driven luxury vehicle with expert whisky host. Chilled water will be provided in the vehicle throughout your tour. In order to give you complete control of costs, entry to distillery tours and attractions, accommodation, meals and drinks are purchased at your discretion. We are more than happy to offer support with bookings and guidance on local amenities.
