The cottage is situated on a slight elevation offering views over to Loch Leven. It is large, modern, warm and well equipped. The sitting room has a wood burning fire place perfect for cozying up to on a cool night. With two double bedrooms on the lower level and a small attic twin room this is a perfect home away from home while visiting the area.
Activities are on the doorstep for all ages, abilities and budgets. Hillwalking and climbing for the more energizing are readily accessible from Ballachulish with many good walks starting from the cottage. There are low level walks too for those who just want to potter.
Other local and nearby activities include biking with quick access to Sustrans bike route. You can use your own bike or rent one locally. The bike route can take you as far as Oban or to Glencoe. Glencoe has further circular paths with sensational views. For golfers there is a 9 hole course 'The Dragons Tooth' near the Ballachulish bridge. Golf clubs can be hired if required.
Within a few miles local outdoor centres provide skiing, kayaking, sailing, canyoning, gorge walking, white water rafting, inner tubing, fast rib boat rides, snowboarding, sedgeway , land rover trips and guided hikes or walks. You can experience the Via Ferratta at Grey Mare’s Tail waterfall in Kinlochleven or spend some time at the Ice Factor, an award winning indoor climbing centre which boasts the largest ice climbing wall in the world. So many things to do!
The museum, local swimming pools, art galleries and National Trust offer activities for those not wanting to focus on sporting activities. These are also perfect for visitors with young children.
Day Trips some ideas can included: the seaside towns of Oban and Mallaig are about an hour away. Loch Ness and Castle Urquhart (1 ¾ hour drive), Eilean Donan Castle (2 hours). Morar Sands near Arasaig is less than an hour away boasts some of the most stunning white sandy beaches. The cottage is a perfect base to explore the nearby area.
Events the local pub, the Laroch, puts on regular music. Other pubs in neighbouring villages regularly host live music and events such as beer festivals, gin & whisky tastings, quiz nights and more.
