Inchard Cottage is a cosy well equipped home in a great location for walkers, climbers, kayakers and nature lovers or simply those who wish to explore this wild and beautiful area of the Highlands. The cottage is right on the loch shore at Rhiconich, 15 miles from Durness to the North and around 40 miles from Lochinver to the south. We have amazing mountains (Ben Stack, Foinaven and Arkle) in our back yard, Quinag, Suilven, Cranstackie, Ben Hope and Ben Loyal all within reach. The nearby beaches of Oldshoremore, Sandwood and Balnakiel are legendary, but there are many more lesser known treasures too.
For rock climbers there are the sea cliffs at Sheigra, and kayakers can enjoy the many sea lochs and inlets. If you want a less active holiday there are plenty of tranquil walks and picnic spots, fascinating geology, and opportunities to see the wildlife. Otters, seals and a huge variety of birds are easily spotted from the cottage, and you can also visit the sea bird colonies on nearby Handa Island.
The house is well situated with the village of Kinlochbervie just 4 miles away where there is a grocery shop, general store, filling station, Post Office and GP surgery and 2 Churches as well as the hotel and bar. Nearer still are a hotel and restaurant and a small local shop.
The cottage has an enclosed garden with access to the loch. Inside there are 3 King/double rooms (1 on the ground floor) and 1 twin room. There is a bathroom and toilet upstairs and a shower room with toilet downstairs. There is a further separate WC downstairs. The 2 lounges and dining area overlook the loch. In the main lounge there is a 'Living Flame' type gas fire. The property is centrally heated and double glazed throughout with large windows to take advantage of the scenery. There are 2 Kitchen areas which make Inchard Cottage ideal for extended families or groups of friends who like to holiday together but also enjoy some of their own space. There is a dishwasher, microwave, 2 big fridge freezers and 2 washing machines (one incorporating a tumble dryer). There is ample parking. Freeview TV and radio is available in both lounges and there are a variety of board games, toys and books for guests to use during their stay. Linen and towels are provided. Please note that we have taken all required steps for our guests' safety during the pandemic, but this has meant removing some items of soft furnishing (extra cushions and throws, certain non essential curtains) and childrens toys.
