About the space:
The cottage, which would originally have been a 'but and ben' has been extended during its lifetime with a kitchen at one end and a second bedroom and bathroom on the front. There is a small shed just outside the back door, which is large enough to store bikes or other outdoor equipment.
The cottage is heated via the Lerwick District Heating scheme which is a locally efficient way of heating your home and provides a constant source of hot water.
Guests have access to the entire property which includes a small, sheltered garden with a clothes line.
The Area:
It is within easy walking distance to Tesco and the Clickimin Leisure Complex, with Lerwick town centre only 1.25 miles away. Its really situated in a great spot in Shetland's capital with its close proximity to the sea. The fields in front of the cottage are 'green belt' and are used mainly for grazing horses and ponies so It feels secluded, but at the same time is so handy for shops, eateries, Shetland Museum and Archives and Mareel (cinema and music venue). The beautiful historic Picts Castle which sits in the loch at Clickimin is also a very close 5-10 minute walk away.
Transport:
The cottage is just a couple of minutes walk to the 'Town Service' bus route or 5 minutes to the main South Road which has buses running to the south and north of the Shetland mainland.
There is ample off street parking outside the cottage for guests who have a vehicle.
Other things to note:
The cottage, as advertised sleeps 3, however it is possible for us to provide a camp bed if desired. There is enough space to have this set up in the living room or in one of the bedrooms, whatever guests would prefer.
Guests should also note that although we don't have a travel cot there is enough room in either of the bedrooms to set one up.
