Heather and Steve Chadwick are delighted to invite you to Netherfield House. Built in 1863, the house is situated in 3 acres of gardens and paddocks bordering the river Gryffe, set in open countryside yet within easy reach of a major city.
Location & travel to/from Netherfield House:
Netherfield House boasts easy access by air, car, rail, or coach. We are 5 minutes from Glasgow Airport; 15 minutes from the M8 (J29) by car; a 15-minute direct train journey to Glasgow (from nearby Bishopton station); and 25 minutes from Glasgow coach station.
Whether as a stepping stone to the Highlands. or as a base for sightseeing around Central Scotland: as an overnight stay before a flight from Glasgow airport, or as an alternative to a city hotel whilst on a business trip: you will find Netherfield House a great place to relax and enjoy a warm and friendly hospitality, luxurious accommodation and delicious food.
Netherfield House:
The house was built in 1863, and until 20 years ago formed part of the Elderslie Estate. Over the last 18 months the property has undergone a major renovation programme, including the conversion into a B&B.
The 3-acre grounds offer delightful walks by the river, gardens with a swing, arbour and other leisure facilities, and views over open countryside.
Accommodation:
We currently offer three rooms:
- A large (300 sq.ft) family room, with a four-poster bed and a separate single bed for a third person, or twin. This room offers a private bathroom, with a bath & shower facilities.
- A large (270 sq.ft) double room, including an en-suite shower room.
- A 180 sq. ft double room with access to a shared bathroom with a bath & shower facilities.
All rooms have a smart tv with Netflix & other catch-up services, a blu-ray/dvd player, free wifi internet access, a hairdryer, and complimentary tea & coffee facilities. Boardgames, books and (on request) a range of dvds are also available free of charge.
Local Amenities:
Situated within 2 miles of both Houston and Erskine, only 15 minutes from Paisley, and 25 minutes from Glasgow, a short drive offers you a selection of pubs, restaurants and take-away evening meals, as well as a variety of all-day & evening entertainment (e.g. Braehead Xscape is only 15 mins away).
Shopping and Tourist Attractions:
Braehead, Paisley and Glasgow offer local shopping, and attractions within a 30 minute drive include Loch Lomond, Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, Gleniffer Braes Country Park, Clyde Estuary (views of Ben Lomond and the local islands, including Bute).
However, if you have time to travel further, you will find Inverary, Edinburgh, Sterling (Bannockburn), Ayrshire (Ayr coast & Culzean Castle), Perthshire (Killin & Loch Tay), Argyll and Bute, all within relatively easy reach (the furthest of these is 90 minutes away).
Breakfast:
A full Scottish breakfast is offered, using locally sourced produce when in season, or you may prefer your choice from a range of lighter breakfast alternatives that are also available.
The host is a trained chef, and most special dietary requirements can be catered for, upon request, including gluten free as standard.
