Tarbat Lodge offers a spectacular location overlooking the picturesque stone harbour, with views across the Dornoch Firth to the Sutherland hills beyond. Portmahomack's beautiful, sandy beach is immediately adjacent to the house. Originally built in about 1740, the house has recently been refurbished to a very high standard for the use of the the owners' family and for guests. The period charm of this listed house has been enhanced with all "mod cons" provided.
The house has 5 bedrooms which can accommodate up to 12 people. However, due to the arrangement of the rooms it is equally suitable for smaller groups, for which a reduction in the rental charge may be available outside the high season. Pormahomack is located on the Tarbat peninsula which has a drier climate than most of Scotland and does not suffer from the midges prevalent in other parts. There are many things to see and do nearby, including superb golfing facilities.

Golf - The 9 hole Tarbat links golf course on the edge of the village is particularly attractive and welcomes visitors. The house offers an excellent base for golfers, being 12 minutes from Tain, 25 minutes from Royal Dornoch and within easy reach of courses at Golspie, Brora, Strathpeffer, Elgin and Nairn. There are 22 golf courses within an hour and 15 minutes drive.
Wheelchair accessible - The ground floor is accessible for people with wheelchairs and the downstairs bathroom (with shower) has a specially-designed, wide door to facilitate access. There are no bedrooms on the ground floor.
Pets are welcome but we ask that they should not be allowed upstairs or on the furniture and that pet owners should pick up any mess caused by their pets. Dog basket provided.
Smoking inside the house is not allowed.
Outside - Pretty garden with lawn and separate garage and parking. Large Caithness stone terrace at the rear of the house. Garden furniture, including directors' chairs, and barbecue provided. Bench outside front porch.
Utility Room - Washing machine, tumble-drier, airing cupboard, iron and ironing board
Towels and bed linen are included.
