An Edinburgh art gallery has announced the return of a much-loved annual exhibition this month, featuring over 500 small, original paintings from some of Scotland’s most notable contemporary artists.
The annual show is now in its 12th year, with the miniature artworks eagerly anticipated by art lovers.
Each of the paintings is unframed and no more than 25cm in size. At a variety of pricepoints and with a huge range of subject matter from landscapes, seascapes and city scenes to still life and portraits, there’s something for everyone. It’s an opportunity to snap up a small painting from a well-known, highly collectable artist or to discover a new talent, and a chance to see something fresh as artists use these small-scale works as an opportunity to experiment and develop new ideas.
Unlike other exhibitions at the gallery, there are no pre-sales in the Small Paintings Show. Anyone who joins the gallery’s mailing list will receive access to the online Private View which goes live at 6pm on Friday 16th January. A short film will accompany the link, featuring lots of the pieces on display in the gallery, with everything available to purchase online immediately.
