The Campsie Fells are a range of gently rolling hills in central Scotland set just 19km north of the city of Glasgow. A popular area for walking, the highest point of the range is Earl’s Seat which rises to 578m.
Over time, erosion has revealed geological evidence of 30 lava flows that date back to the Carboniferous period over 300 million years ago along what is now known as the Campsie Fault.
Visitors are also attracted to the area for whisky distillation with the Glengoyne single malt distillery sitting at the foot of the fells just west of Dumgoyne hill, a prominent landmark of the Campsie fells.
Also nearby runs part of the West Highland Way from Milngavie to Fort William, along the Carbeth to Drymen stretch.
