6 day Isle of Skye tour
This is a PRIVATE BESPOKE 6 day tour. Join us on this wonderful Scottish tour and enjoy an authentic experience on your Journey through the Scotland.
Departing your accommodation in Edinburgh and as we start your 6 day Isle of Skye tour, our driver guide will take this opportunity to get to know you and give you a summary of the adventure to come.
The first stop of our journey after leaving Edinburgh is the ancient settlement of Stirling. We will give you a chance to visit the site of Scotland’s most important battle at Bannockburn. The Battle of Bannockburn took place 700 years ago and gave Scotland its independence back.
The visitor centre we will be taking you to has a fully 3D immersive experience that will take you back to the year 1314 and onto the centre of the battlefields, along side Scotland’s most famous king – Robert the Bruce.
Next we head north and over the Highland line into the southern highlands of Scotland. The scenery starts to change and becomes more beautiful with every mile.
Soon our travels will take us through Glencoe and what is one of Scotland’s spectacular locations. Your guide will tell you the sad story this Glen’s traumatic past.
Onward to Glenfinnan and the site of the start of the last rebellion of the Jacobite’s, where Bonnie Prince Charlie rallied the nation. It is also the location of the Harry Potter Bridge (the Glenfinnan Viaduct).
Further along this route we get to Mallaig ferry port and embark on a ferry to Skye. Once on the Island we head for the village of Kyleakin and your accommodation.
Day 2
We are moving north through this incredible Island and to the world-famous fairy pools. These crystal-clear pools and waterfalls set amongst the towering Cuillin mountains are a ‘must see’ when visiting the Island.
Talisker Bay is our next stop. This lovely bay with its sea stack and black sand beach is a little know gem on this Island.
Onward to Neist Point and its stunning cliff scenery. On a clear day here, you may have breath-taking views to the Outer Hebrides and the chance to watch for minke whales in the summer months.
Day 3
A jaunt to another island as we catch the fist ferry to the little island of Raasay. This place feels like it is standing still in time and has a tangible relaxing atmosphere.
As part of our Raasay visit you will have a chance to visit The Isle of Raasay Distillery and watch the process of Scotch Whisky being made.
Once back on Skye we head for the Village of Potree. Here you have a chance to do a little souvenir shopping or to enjoy a coffee / glass of wine before heading back to your accommodation.
Day 4
Today we head for the North of the Island and stop at Coral Bay. This gentle walk to the beautiful white sandy beach will give you a chance to dip your toes into the clear Atlantic Ocean.
Next we head for The magical Fairy Glen with its miniature mountains and mystical feel. The next part of this journey is all about spectacular locations such as the Quiraing, Kilt Rock and the Old Man Of Stoer.
Day 5
Today is all about an exciting boat trip as our tour takes us to Elgol. The road to and Elgol itself is a wonderful part of this Island, the views are breath-taking. From here you will catch the sightseeing boat for the puffin run / small isles tour to the islands of Canna, Sanday, Soay and Rum.
The boat will head west through Soay making the half hour crossing to Canna one of the Small Isles. The boat will take you around the base of the dramatic sea stacks, home to Guillemots, Kittiwakes, Razorbills and between April and July, thousands of Atlantic Puffins. Porpoise, Dolphin and Basking Shark are often sighted.
You will then have an hour ashore giving you time to stretch your legs or visit the Canna Tea Room. You will then see some Atlantic Grey Seals before heading back for Elgol, along the north coast of the Isle of Rum.
We then head back to your accommodation.
Day 6
The road home. First, we have a chance to visit Eilean Donan Castle. Possibly our best-known castle, here we will give you time to explore this iconic building.
The journey then takes us through the mountainous area of Kintail, Glenshiel and onto Fort Augustus, providing you an opportunity to catch a boat on the world-famous Loch Ness.
After your monster hunting adventure, we head through the Great Glen and onto Scotland Highest main road, the Drumochter Pass.
Our last stop is the quaint little village of Dunkeld before heading home to Edinburgh where we will drop you off at your accommodation as we end your 6 day Isle of Skye tour.
