Available most days, weather permitting, a small group, pre-book confirmed 'Bright Dundee daylight guided walk Tour' starts at a location in the Albert Square in Dundee City Centre. Enquiries :- tap, click on 'Book Now' in www.brightdundeetours.com
Easily accessible, you are welcomed by your friendly and knowledgeable local guide. No need to touch any surfaces, and we social distance throughout.
Narrated in English only, the walk involves a saunter outdoors for about an hour and a half. We focus on the history heritage and architecture of the buildings in the square, especially the McManus Galleries, voted by the Scottish Thistle Awards 2019-20 as the best visitor attraction in the country.
The purpose of the tour is to enlighten and entertain by building a picture in our minds of what actually existed around the square in 1867 and the end of that century, to discover certain artefacts attached to the buildings, and to learn the meanings of statues, plaques, and interesting items along the way.
Your tour guide is George, an Abertay University graduate and a carpenter and joiner to trade who was inspired to create the concept of Bright Dundee Tours while working on the McManus Galleries listed building renovation in 2007. Intrigued and fascinated by the structure details, the idea developed into what is now established as the finest wee history tour in town, enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.
