Day tour from Inverness to historic Isle of Iona. Iona is very special in Christian history as being where St Columba arrived having been banished from Ireland, and bringing with him the Christian message. He was instrumental in converting the tribes of the highlands to Christianity and indeed travelled the 140 or so miles from Iona to Inverness to convert the King of the Picts, King Brude, with whom he became good friends. We visit the Abbey which he founded in 565AD, although rebuilt down the centuries it is still a very spiritual place to visit. The great 11 century Scottish King Macbeth is said to be buried here. Tour duration is approx 14hrs and cost is £450, Entries and lunch are not included. Entries approx £12 p/p.
