Invergordon shore excursion

Our classic trip is an open canoe journey down the Kyle of Sutherland for cruise ships berthing at Invergordon. These excursions are small scale, personal and will take you well off the beaten track and include a gourmet, homemade picnic lunch.

This sheltered journey on a slow moving river in stunning surroundings is perfectly suited to those new to the pleasures of open canoes and those with previous experience. Your guide Ian is a qualified canoe coach and leader and has been canoeing this stretch of water, a stones throw from his home, for years. This 4 hour journey will go through country rich in wildlife, tracing a figure of eight course through narrow creeks and around wooded islands.

We will pick you up from the harbour at Invergordon in our comfortable 8 seat minibus and take you on a scenic drive. We will stop to admire the fabulous scenery from "Millionaire's View" and pass beneath the historical Carbisdale Castle before reaching our launching site. After kitting you out with buoyancy aids and a quick safety briefing, we will get you on the water.

We break the leisurely canoe journey with a stop for a home made picnic lunch prepared by Ian's wife, Ann. This includes home made soup and home baked bread along with local cheeses, meats and fish and salad from our organic garden. Home baking will also feature with a variety of cakes and biscuits on offer.

We are very passionate about this aspect of our trips and are keen to highlight the wonderful produce made in the local area.
