Mercat Tours - Spirits of Halloween

A Halloween ghost tour of Edinburgh’s shadowy closes and vaults with a glass of witches’ brew to finish. Explore Edinburgh’s Old Town and Blair Street Underground Vaults before settling into the candlelit Megget’s Cellar for a complimentary drink.

Walk with spirits and drink with the dead this Halloween.

Tradition has it that Samhuinn, or Halloween, is the time when the veil between worlds lifts, and the spirits of the dead drift among the living. It is the perfect time to visit one of Scotland's most haunted sites.

Step into the spirit of Halloween on a spine-tingling ghost tour through Edinburgh’s medieval streets and haunted underground vaults. Hear tales of the city’s past residents and stories of spirits stepping through the veil between worlds. Follow chilling tales through the shadows before ending the night with a reviving Halloween cocktail.

Descend into the spirit world

Your tour begins in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, where your Master Storyteller will guide you along cobbled streets, once steeped in blood, guts and gore, echoing with the sounds of the city’s grisly past. They might even teach you a centuries-old tradition or two to protect yourself on Samhuinn, a time when spirits enter this realm.

You’ll then descend into the famous Blair Street Underground Vaults — a flickering maze of candlelit chambers that are certain to maintain a ghost or two within their ancient walls.

Finally, still your nerves with a glass of witches’ brew in our underground Megget’s Cellar as your Storyteller weaves more tales by candlelight.
