Clava Cairns, Scotland

Mystical Highlands

Scotland and in particular the Highlands are an ancient and mysterious land. This tour is ideal for anyone wishing to discover our magical and mysterious past.

Our day starts at Clootie Well which is an old pilgrimage spot and has a forest decorated with brightly coloured rags tied to the trees. For thousands of years and since pre-Christian times people have come to this forest to visit the wells and springs dipping cloth in the water and tying it to a branch while saying a prayer to the spirits and goddesses. A practice you can take part in on your experience!

The tour then moves on to Fairy Glen where local children would decorate springs with flowers in the hope that the fairies would keep the water clean. This practice has gone on for thousands of years. You'll also see the money trees where hundreds of old coins are hammered into the bark as offerings to the fairies.

Your last stop before being returned home is the 4,000 year old bronze age cemetery of Clava Cairns which is the most favoured contender for the inspiration behind the site of Craigh na Dun from the series "Outlander".

The price per person is £79 and includes all your visits, transportation and a luxury picnic hamper.
