Outlander Day Tour

A wonderful private tour, sceduled just for you. Take a trip back through time to some of the much-loved Outlander filming locations....

Collecting you in Edinburgh or Glasgow as preferred, Stravaigin will whisk you away in one of our many luxury vehicles to start your utterly epic one day Outlander tour.

Take in the majestic Scottish scenery and breathe in the crisp Scottish air as we transport you firstly to the magnificent Doune Castle. This iconic location is one of the stars of the show serving of course as the imposing Castle Leoch. Sited on a wooded bend where the Ardoch Burn flows into the river Teith, Doune is steeped in enthralling history and is a Mecca for many thousands of Outlander’s dedicated fans who have flocked here to soak up the unique and mysterious atmosphere here at the seat of the Clan MacKenzie.

Now we gently wind our way through exquisite and colourful countryside towards the historic town of Falkland in Fife which doubles for 1940’s Inverness. It’s always fun on arrival in Falkland to watch our guests as they spot the familiar sights of Mrs Baird’s guesthouse, the Bruce fountain and Farrell’s hardware and furniture store. It’s a joy to behold.

Post local refreshments and a quick spot of gift shopping if required, we stay in Fife but move on to the historically rich Culross. You Outlander fans may be more familiar with Culross as Cranesmuir. Now sadly even we at Stravaigin cannot guarantee a glimpse of Geillis Duncan or her husband Arthur in this picturesque little part of television history, but we can promise you unrivalled Scottish hospitality in this impressive part of our great country.

Following a delicious lunch of Scottish fayre which the Fraser and MacKenzie clans would be proud to present at a banquet, we whisk you next to the 16th Century tower house of Midhope Castle. Midhope is used as Jamie Fraser’s home at Lallybroch and when available is a must have photo op’ so please keep those cameras at the ready.

Fancy another Castle? We’re Stravaigin, so we’ve definitely got that covered. On the approach to the splendid Blackness Castle, you will instantly recognise this place as the location where poor Jamie was mercilessly flogged. The courtyard of this 15th Century Castle stood in as Fort William. We must warn you though to please avoid Black Jack Randall if you spot him, as we have no idea what sort of mood he’ll be in that day…

Phew! Time now to take you to your final stop on the stunning Outlander one-day tour before we transport you back to present day. And what a stop it is! Who could ever forget one of the most intense and gut wrenching Outlander scenes so far? After Jamie is betrayed, the Redcoats take him to Wentworth Prison where he stands trial and is sentenced to hang. Here he suffers terrible torture at the hands of the despicable Randall. The wonderful Linlithgow palace fills in for the gloomy Wentworth Prison, and this 15th and 16th century building was formerly one of the principal residences of the Monarchs of Scotland. You literally can’t turn anywhere in Scotland without a bit of history staring you in the face.

As you turn in for the night, you’ll dream of the wondrous places you saw with us and your Stravaigin tour will undoubtedly stay with you as you nod off to sleep…

These flexible, informative, entertaining and enchanting tours are growing in popularity amongst the many Outlander fans around the world and demand is high. Please book now to avoid disappointment.
