Private Outlander Filming Locations Tour

Step into the world of Outlander on a fun private tour from Edinburgh or Glasgow, visiting Culross, Doune Castle, Blackness Castle and Lallybroch. Explore the real settings behind Jamie and Claire’s story.

Step into the world of Outlander and explore some of Scotland’s most iconic filming locations on this private day tour from either Edinburgh or Glasgow. Designed for fans of the series and lovers of Scottish history alike, this experience blends dramatic landscapes, atmospheric castles, and the real-life settings that brought Jamie and Claire’s story to life.

Your journey begins in the beautifully preserved village of Culross, instantly recognisable as Cranesmuir. With its cobbled lanes, traditional houses and the historic Culross Palace, it’s the perfect place to soak up authentic 17th-century Scotland.

Continue to Doune Castle, known on screen as Castle Leoch. This impressive medieval stronghold offers stunning views and fascinating stories, both from the show and from its centuries of history. Wander through the great hall and courtyard and imagine the early days of Claire’s adventures with Clan MacKenzie.

Next, explore the dramatic coastal fortress of Blackness Castle, which appeared as Fort William in Outlander. Its striking “ship-like” shape and imposing walls make it one of Scotland’s most memorable locations, offering superb views across the Firth of Forth.

Finally, visit Midhope Castle, the much-loved exterior of Lallybroch, Jamie Fraser’s family home. Although the interior is not accessible, standing at the iconic doorway is a special moment for any fan of the series.

This private tour is suitable for up to seven guests and includes door-to-door collection from both Edinburgh and Glasgow. With an expert local guide, you’ll enjoy a relaxed, engaging day filled with stories, scenery and the magic of Outlander’s Scotland.
