Scenic Walk around the ancient ramparts of the historic walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, with six local produce food/drink intervals . All the food/drink sampled will help unveil the fascinating tastes & tales of the Borderlands.

An immersive culinary & cultural journey of local heritage around the ancient ramparts of the historic walled Border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, England’s most northernly town, that has changed hands 13 times between England & Scotland.

Guided by local award-winning restaurateurs, William & Katrina Reynolds, passionate hospitality veterans who are proud of the generations of family farming history in the beautiful agricultural Borderlands countryside.

This unique food tour showcases the Borderlands through local food, sharing secrets and knowledge of the hidden local gems. Guests will benefit from the special connections in this outstanding food producing region.

Borderland Food Tours are a moveable feast for all the senses and a memorable opportunity to find out more about where food comes from.

Experience six local produce food/drink intervals on the impressive Elizabethan walls. All the food/drink sampled will help unveil stories the turbulent history of the town, demonstrate the town as the ancient food distribution centre and share what a special place Berwick & the Borderlands are.

Some of the tastes guests can enjoy include

  • North Sea oysters that have been harvested from the waters in front of them as they look down the coast to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne with accompanying Mead
  • Locally smoked fish - the product that made the town its fortune
  • Cheese named after the historic local saint
  • Traditional bakery treats
  • Haggis Cannonballs aside a full-size cannon
  • delicious barley dishes, the key ingredient the town is named after.
