Wildlife/Lowlandman's Bay and Brosdale Island

A tour that lasts for 1 hour but encompasses an Atlantic grey seal colony, a former lighthouse keepers dwelling and then a fast transit to the south of the Island to Brosdale Island.

The Atlantic grey seals are evident year round on Pladda Island which is the first point of call while transiting in a northerly direction from Craighouse Pontoon where all tours commence. From the seal colony you carry on north passing Corran Beach followed by Lowlandman's Bay which is a fantastic viewpoint for the 3 Paps Beinn an Oir which means mountain of gold; Beinn Shiantaidh, which means mountain of the Kyle and Bein a'Chaolais, which means holy mountain. Also on the shores of Lowlandman's Bay you have the 3 storey ex lighthouse keepers dwelling. It is a large single 3 storey build that was comprised of 3 flats for the lighthouse keeper and the 2 assistants who operated the 2 lighthouses located in the Sound of Jura. From here we transit south to Brosdale Island passing a Sea Eagle nest site on route then return to Craighouse.
