Mental Meander with the Happy Reaper

Join Colin Mackie (aka The Happy Reaper) on a walk through the three sections of the Gorbals very own "City of the Dead" the Southern Necropolis.

The Southern Necropolis was opened in 1840 and is the final resting place for approximately 250,000 contributors to the rich historical legacy of the Gorbals and Glasgow, and the cemetery was the location of the legendary Gorbals Vampire incident of 1954. The three sections of the cemetery also contain the graves of characters such as Sir Thomas Lipton, Alexander Greek Thomson and the famous White Lady monument, walk round her three times saying out her name, or she might turn you to stone.

During your two hour visit to the Southern Necropolis, you will also be shown documents and photographs relating to other characters and aspects of the cemetery's history , and also the added bonus of a cup of tea at the end of the tour (Liptons of course)

Dates and times for tours can be arranged on request.
