Old Course St Andrews

© Meridian Golf Tours

St Andrews Golf Tour

Our Golf Trip To St Andrews includes golf on the Old Course St Andrews via the daily ballot process. Also included are further rounds on the Jubilee Course, Carnoustie Championship Links, Crail Balcomie, Dumbarnie, and Kingsbarns.

GOLF COURSE SELECTION

Old Course St Andrews - Via Ballot

The Old Course at St. Andrews is one of the most iconic and revered golf courses in the world. Located in St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland, it’s often referred to as the “Home of Golf” and has a rich history dating back centuries.

Established in the 15th century, it’s one of the oldest and most historic golf courses globally, contributing significantly to the sport’s development.

It has hosted numerous prestigious golf tournaments, including The Open Championship, which has been played at the Old Course more times than any other venue.

HOW TO GET AN OLD COURSE TEE TIME

Known for its unique layout with shared fairways, double greens, and challenging bunkers, it offers a distinctive golfing experience.

Iconic holes like the “Road Hole” (17th) and the “Home of Golf” (18th) are renowned worldwide for their challenges and history.

Despite its prestige, the Old Course is a public course, allowing golf enthusiasts from around the world to play.

Jubilee Course St Andrews

The Jubilee Course is one of the esteemed courses at St. Andrews Links, situated alongside other renowned courses like the Old Course, New Course, and Eden Course.

Established in 1897, the Jubilee Course is the third oldest at St. Andrews Links, showcasing a rich heritage in golfing history.

Known for its testing layout and demanding nature, the Jubilee Course presents golfers with strategic challenges, featuring undulating fairways, deep bunkers, and subtle elevation changes.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the North Sea, the Jubilee Course offers picturesque coastal views, providing a captivating ambiance for golfers.

Embodying the classic links-style design, the course boasts firm fairways and fast greens, incorporating elements of the natural landscape into the playing experience.

Carnoustie Championship Course

Carnoustie is thought to be the most demanding of all the current Open Championship venues, hosting it 7 times.

The first record of golf played there was in 1527 with 10 holes being constructed in 1842, before Old Tom Morris extended the course to 18 holes in 1857.

It was once again altered and lengthened by James Braid in 1926. The 6th hole - Hogan's Alley is infamous and reckoned to be one of if not the greatest Par 5 hole in the world of golf.

The final 3 holes at Carnoustie are about as tough as you will find anywhere in the world of golf.

Crail Balcomie

Crail Golfing Society’s Balcomie Links is a revered and historic course located in Crail, Fife, Scotland.

Balcomie Links is one of the oldest courses in Scotland, dating back to 1895, designed by legendary golf course architect Tom Morris.

The course embodies the traditional links-style design, with undulating fairways, rugged coastal terrain, and natural hazards like pot bunkers and roughs that blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.

Situated along the Fife coastline, Balcomie Links offers spectacular views of the North Sea, providing golfers with breathtaking vistas as they play through the course.

Dumbarnie Links

Dumbarnie Links is a contemporary addition to Scotland’s renowned golfing scene, situated in Fife along the coastline.

Opened in 2020, Dumbarnie Links is a recent addition to Scotland’s golfing landscape, designed by award-winning architect Clive Clark.

The course features a traditional links-style layout, blending seamlessly with the natural coastal terrain, incorporating dunes, and offering panoramic views of the Firth of Forth.

Positioned along the picturesque coastline, the course provides stunning views of the sea, incorporating rugged coastal features and expansive vistas throughout the round.

Dumbarnie Links offers golfers a challenging yet fair experience, with wide fairways, natural hazards, and undulating greens that require strategic shot-making and course management.

Kingsbarns Links

Kingsbarns Golf Links is an acclaimed and modern links golf course situated near St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland.

Established in 2000, Kingsbarns is a relatively new addition to Scotland’s golfing landscape but has quickly gained recognition and acclaim.

Designed by Kyle Phillips, the course offers a championship-level layout that combines traditional links characteristics with modern design elements, providing a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all levels.

Positioned along the rugged coastline of the North Sea, Kingsbarns boasts breathtaking views of the sea and expansive vistas, creating a scenic backdrop for golfers.

The course features a series of memorable and visually striking holes that wind through the dunes, offering a mix of challenges, including strategic bunkering, undulating fairways, and fast greens.
