Tourist Guide Alasdair Northrop on the East Lothian coast

© Alasdair Northrop

North Berwick

The hidden jewel near Edinburgh - lovely East Lothian

East Lothian is an incredibly picturesque region just a few miles outside Edinburgh. It boasts a stunning coastline with beautiful sandy beaches and ancient rocks, spectacular views, historic harbours, ancient castles and lovely rolling countryside.

This driver guided tour will give you a taste of a very different Scotland. East Lothian boasts a stunning coastline with sandy beaches which look like they could be in the Mediterranean. We will visit some of them with views across to dramatic rocky islands which are associated with the books of author Robert Louis Stevenson who spent childhood holidays here. The region also has some very pretty seaside towns with lots of history. North Berwick is famous for a gathering of witches in the 16th century who were accused of trying to kill a king and the nearby Dunbar is associated with Mary Queen of Scots and the father of the National Park movement, John Muir. There are also a number of extraordinary castle ruins in the area and it is also famous for its golf courses including the Open location, Muirfield. This tour can be honed to suit your interests. Maximum of three people. I have qualified for the Covid-19 Industry Standard.
