Tour to Skye

This 5 day tour takes us from Edinburgh/Glasgow to the Isle of Skye via Inverness and return to either Glasgow or Edinburgh.

You will be picked up in Edinburgh or Glasgow, and we would head north over the iconic Forth Road Bridge towards to the historic village of Dunkeld to see the 13th century Cathedral. From there to Pitlochry, a Victorian town with the smallest distillery in Scotland (Edradour) nearby. Continuing north, you can stop off at the House of Bruar, before heading on to the Dalwhinnie distillery for a wee dram and an accompanying chocolate. On arrival at Inverness, book into one of the 4-5* hotels then take a relaxing walk along the river Ness before dinner in one of the many excellent restaurants.

Day two would take us down Loch Ness to join the Jacobite cruises where you would spend an hour on the Loch to see one of the largest ruined castles in Scotland, Urquhart Castle. Looking for Nessie (the monster) is an optional extra. from there onto to the most photographed castle in Scotland (Eilean Donan) before crossing the Skye Bridge and onto the Island of Skye. You would remain on Skye for two days touring 'the misty isle' learning of Flora Macdonald who helped Bonnie Prince Charlie escape and viewing some of the most amazing mountainous landscape in Scotland.

After two days, you would return to the mainland via the Ferry to the small fishing village of Mallaig and perhaps take the Jacobite Express, steam train (Harry Potter Express) to Fort William where I would meet you. One night in Fort William would allow you to explore the local area and visiting 'Neptune's Staircase' part of the Caledonia Canal.

The following day we would return to Edinburgh\Glasgow via Glen Coe, a most beautiful mountainous part of Scotland and hear about the 1692 massacre of the Macdonalds by the Campbells. Lots more to see on the return to Edinburgh where you would earn yourself a well earned rest.
