West Highland Way: The Highlands - 5 Days

Walk the wildest stretch of the West Highland Way over 5 days, from Bridge of Orchy across Rannoch Moor and over the Devil's Staircase to Fort William.

This walk covers the most dramatic sections of the West Highland Way, Scotland's most popular long-distance trail. Starting at the remote Bridge of Orchy Hotel, the route crosses Rannoch Moor, one of Europe's last great wilderness areas, before climbing into the rugged Scottish Highlands.

The trail passes Buachaille Etive Mor, one of Scotland's most photographed mountains, and climbs the Devil's Staircase before descending to Kinlochleven. Old military tracks then lead on to Fort William at the foot of Ben Nevis, the UK's highest mountain. Nights at the Bridge of Orchy Hotel and the Kingshouse Hotel, both known for their single malts, add comfort to the wild scenery, and a bowl of Scottish mussels in Fort William makes a fitting end to the walk.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive Bridge of Orchy

Day 2: Bridge of Orchy to Kingshouse (19 km)

Day 3: Kingshouse to Kinlochleven (15 km)

Day 4: Kinlochleven to Fort William (25 km)
