Lallybroch Midhope Scotland Outlander season 8 tours

Lallybroch Midhope Castle, Scotland

Outlander season 8 tour, Lallybroch , Outlander tours from Private tours Edinburgh 2026

Our private Outlander Season 8 Tour of Scotland is a cinematic journey through four of the most iconic filming locations in the series, travel from Lallybroch to the Palace of Versailles on this unique tour for 2026

If you’ve ever dreamed of standing where Jamie Fraser stood… of walking through the courtyards of ancient castles… of stepping directly into the world of Outlander — this is your moment.

Designed especially for passionate Outlander fans, this exclusive experience combines dramatic landscapes, authentic Scottish history, and unforgettable behind-the-scenes insight — all in one extraordinary day.

With a maximum of four guests, this is personal. Immersive. Powerful.

1 . Lallybroch – Midhope Castle

Your journey begins at the ancestral home of Jamie Fraser.

Filmed at Midhope Castle, Lallybroch is one of the most beloved locations in the entire series. And now, for the first time ever:

“On this unique tour , for the first time ever fans can go inside Lallybroch and explore the home of Jamie Fraser .”

This is more than a photo stop. You’ll walk through the very structure that brought Lallybroch to life on screen. Built in the 15th century and later rebuilt in the 1600s, the castle remains largely unchanged — its weathered stone walls and quiet courtyard still echoing with centuries of Scottish history.

Both Outlander and the prequel Blood of My Blood feature this extraordinary location, making it a must-see for true fans.

2.Castle Leoch – Doune Castle

Next, travel to the mighty Doune Castle, the setting for Castle Leoch — home of Clan MacKenzie.

Doune Castle / Castle Leoch , Outlander

Built around 1400, Doune Castle’s towering gatehouse and magnificent Great Hall are instantly recognizable. It’s here Claire first encounters the world of 18th-century Scotland. Standing inside its medieval walls feels like stepping directly into those early, unforgettable episodes.

You’ll explore the courtyard , chambers and the Great Hall while the Outlander stories on TV start to become real — and the real Scottish history that shaped the dram

3.the Palace of Versailles in Scotland – Drummond Castle Gardens

Then comes one of the most visually stunning locations of all: Drummond Castle.

“Drummond Castle Gardens date back to 1630, are considered ‘the best example of formal terraced gardens in Scotland’ and some say in Europe.”

These breathtaking grounds doubled as the Palace of Versailles during Claire and Jamie’s time in France.

Drummond Castle gardens, the Palace of Versailles Outlander

“The castle was used as the setting for a garden party at the Palace of Versailles in an episode of TV drama Outlander.”

In 2024 French fashion house Dior returned to Scotland for its first catwalk show in the country in almost seven decades. Dior took inspiration from Scottish history for the show in the gardens of Drummond Castle near Crieff in Perthshire, as celebrities including Jennifer Lawrence, Rosamund Pike and Anya Taylor-Joy watched on.

With perfectly symmetrical parterres, sweeping terraces, dramatic Highland backdrops and some noisy peacocks too , this is one of the most cinematic stops on the tour — and a dream location for photography.

Wentworth Prison – Linlithgow Palace

Finally, you’ll visit Linlithgow Palace, transformed in the series into the haunting Wentworth Prison.

Though historically known as the birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots, fans will recognize its courtyard and stone passageways from some of the most intense scenes in Outlander. It’s a powerful and atmospheric finale to the day.

Your tour guide / photographer at Private tours Edinburgh is David , an experienced tour guide and travel photographer , with over 40 years experience in editorial photography . David can show you the best viewpoints for photos at each location we visit . * The Scotsman newspaper has published one of David’s pictures of Lallybroch – Midhope Castle .
