The most comprehensive Skye day tour available from Inverness, you will visit The Fairy Pools, The Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock, The Quiraing, the Cuillin Mountains, Portree, Eilean Donan Castle and Loch Ness.
The Skye Fairy Pools Tour departs from Inverness Bus Station at 8.15am, where you will board a well-appointed 30-seater mini-coach (we are currently operating at 50% capacity in order to adhere to one metre social distancing guidelines). Accompanied by an experienced local driver guide, you will embark on a 12-hour adventure to the Isle of Skye. Highlights of the tour include;
The Black Isle
As we drive over the Kessock Bridge to the Black Isle, our journey takes us through traditional villages and farmland, and we keep an eye out for Red Kites.
Achnasheen
As we journey towards the dramatic scenery of the West Coast we will take a short stop here to use the facilities and admire the views from the railway bridge (10 minutes).
Lochcarron
We stop high above this sea loch for expansive views over the fjord-like body of water, and over to Strome Castle, whose tumultuous demise will be described by your guide. We will get our first views of Skye from here, if the weather is fine!
The Skye Bridge
We journey over the bridge, hearing the story of its inception whilst enjoying breathtaking views of The Misty Isle and its neighbours (hopefully, if the sun is shining!)
Portree
We would recommend taking a short walk to see the famous pastel-coloured houses or, for beautiful harbour views, head up to the Apothecary Tower. Alternatively, this is your opportunity to indulge in some souvenir shopping or relax with a coffee (30 - 40 minute stop).
Old Man of Storr
We will stop to admire this 50 metre high rock pinnacle from the Storr Lochs viewpoint (10 minute stop).
Kilt Rock
Always a highlight, this impressive 60 metres waterfall is said to resemble a highland kilt. When the wind blows the water back up the kilt it really is a sight to behold! (15 minute stop)
Quiraing
This is your opportunity to really get out and explore the rugged beauty of Skye; breath in the sea air, admire the unique rock formations and enjoy the panoramic sea views as you walk (35 minutes).
Fairy Pools
Take a walk to see the crystal clear waters of the Fairy Pools, set to a beautiful backdrop of the imposing Cuillin Mountains. We will have around 90 minutes here which will give you plenty time to hike to the pools (20 minutes each way) and enjoy the splendid beauty of your surroundings. Don't forget your camera! (75-90 minutes)
Eilean Donan Castle
On our alternative route back to Inverness we will stop at a wonderful viewpoint so that you can take some photos of this truly iconic historic Scottish castle. (15 minutes)
Urquhart Castle/Loch Ness
After journeying along the shores of Loch Ness we will have our final stop of the day here, where we will view the ruins of the castle from above..keeping an eye out for Nessie too of course!
You will return to Inverness at 8.15pm with photos galore, and memories to last a lifetime!
