Forth Bridge, Stirling Castle, Wallace Monument & Linlithgow Palace: Self-Guided Driving Tour

Drive from Edinburgh to the Forth Bridge, Stirling Castle, the National Wallace Monument and Linlithgow Palace on a self-guided Votura audio tour. Follow in-app navigation, hear stories at every stop and return to Edinburgh at your own pace.

Discover some of central Scotland’s most important engineering, royal and historic landmarks with Votura, a self-guided audio tour app that lets you explore independently using your own smartphone and car.

This driving route starts and ends in Edinburgh. Begin at the Forth Bridge in South Queensferry, then continue to Stirling Castle and the National Wallace Monument before visiting Linlithgow Palace. Along the way, Votura combines route guidance with audio stories to help you understand the places you are seeing.

The tour includes four key locations:

• Forth Bridge – Start at one of Scotland’s best-known landmarks and enjoy views across the Firth of Forth.

• Stirling Castle – Explore one of Scotland’s most important historic castles, set high above the city of Stirling.

• National Wallace Monument – Visit the monument dedicated to Sir William Wallace, with panoramic views over the surrounding landscape.

• Linlithgow Palace – Discover the impressive ruins of the royal palace beside Linlithgow Loch, once a favourite residence of Scotland’s monarchs.

How it works:

• First-time users should download the Votura app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

• Open the app and create a Votura account.

• Once registered, visit Votura’s free Premium trial page.

• iPhone users: click “Redeem on iPhone” to open the App Store and complete the trial activation process.

• Android users: click “Start Trial on Android”. This opens the Votura app and activates the free trial automatically.

• Return to the app, open this tour and begin at the Forth Bridge in South Queensferry.

• Follow the route map and in-app navigation from one stop to the next.

• At each location, play the audio to hear stories, history and useful context about the place.

• Pause the tour, take breaks or spend longer at any stop. There is no fixed timetable and no guide to keep up with.

• After visiting Linlithgow Palace, follow the route back to Edinburgh.

This is a digital self-guided experience provided by Votura. It does not include a vehicle, driver, fuel, parking, food, drinks or admission to Stirling Castle, the National Wallace Monument, Linlithgow Palace or any other paid attraction. Visitors should arrange their own transport and check parking, ticket prices, opening hours and accessibility directly with each venue.

The first 7 days of Votura Premium are free. A weekly subscription begins after the trial unless cancelled through the relevant App Store or Google Play subscription settings.

A smartphone, headphones and suitable footwear are recommended. Some stops include uneven paths, slopes, cobbled areas and outdoor viewpoints.
