Forth Bridges, Anstruther & St Andrews: Self-Guided Driving Tour

Drive from the Forth Bridges to Anstruther and St Andrews on a self-guided Votura audio tour. Discover coastal views, fishing heritage, castle and cathedral ruins, university history and the world-famous Old Course.

Explore the Fife coast and the historic town of St Andrews with Votura, a self-guided audio tour app that lets you travel independently using your own smartphone and car.

This full-day driving route begins at the Forth Bridges Viewpoint in South Queensferry, with views across the Firth of Forth. It then travels through Fife to Anstruther Harbour before continuing to St Andrews, where castles, cathedral ruins, university history and golf heritage come together.

The tour includes these key locations:

• Forth Bridges Viewpoint – Start with views of the Forth Bridge, Forth Road Bridge and Queensferry Crossing.

• Anstruther Harbour – Explore the harbour and traditional fishing-village atmosphere of the East Neuk of Fife.

• St Andrews Castle – Discover the dramatic coastal ruins of the former residence of Scotland’s leading bishops and a key site in the Reformation story.

• St Andrews Cathedral and the graves of Old and Young Tom Morris – Visit the ruins of Scotland’s largest medieval church and see the resting places of two of golf’s most important figures.

• St Salvator’s College and Chapel – Walk through one of the University of St Andrews’ most historic areas.

• Patrick Hamilton memorial marker – Find the “PH” cobblestone marker outside St Salvator’s Chapel, marking the place where Patrick Hamilton was executed in 1528.

• The Old Course, St Andrews – Finish at the Home of Golf and enjoy views across one of the world’s most famous golf courses.
