Romantic Places to Propose in Scotland

A true happily ever after starts with one very important question - the proposal. For many, the most critical element of the task is where to propose; ultimately wherever you choose will become a place that's special to both of you for the rest of your lives.

In Scotland, you're not short of breathtaking backdrops which make the perfect setting for the most romantic and memorable of moments.  Find proposal ideas and the best places to propose in Scotland.

Scotland's boasts some of the UK's most beautiful beaches. An isolated bay on an island in the Outer Hebrides, Orkney or Shetland, or maybe a remote sandy cove along the coast of the mainland won't fail to impress, particularly when the sun is setting. Then it's just a gentle stroll along white sands, gazing out to crystal blue waters, before getting down on one knee.

  2. A Castle Dunnottar Castle, Stonehaven

Whether it's a dramatic clifftop ruin or a striking turreted baronial build, the sight of a castle has the power to take your breath away. At Edinburgh Castle, you can even hire a special room to ensure your proposal is completely exclusive and intimate.

  3. By a loch Loch Trool, Perthshire

The allure of a loch is pretty hard to beat, with glistening waters surrounded by dramatic scenery. Loch Lomond is often hailed to be the most romantic of all of Scotland's lochs, but Loch Trool in Dumfries & Galloway and Loch Katrine in the Trossachs are both rather magical too.

  4. Up a Hill or Mountain Ord Hill, North Kessock
