There might be a cool whisper in the wind, but don't let the chillier climes put you off. Just pack a puffy coat! Start off the new year with a cosy and memorable trip to Scotland and embrace the chance to see the country at one of the quietest times of the year.

It's the month of Robert Burns, Scotland's National Bard. We celebrate the writer's zest for life with ceilidhs, haggis and Burns Suppers on 25 January. Up in Shetland, another iconic event Up Helly Aa takes place on the third Tuesday of the month - a Viking-style street party. In Glasgow, Celtic Connections fills the city with folk music, traditional song and hundreds of live music events and gatherings.
