Poppa’s Cottage is set in a delightful row of green and white painted terraced cottages in the heart of the seaside village of Lamlash. Enjoying one of the most beautiful settings on the Island of Arran, this 19th century former estate worker’s cottage is filled with historic character and has uninterrupted views across the picturesque bay to the magnificent Holy Isle beyond.
Poppa’s Cottage is a much-loved family holiday home perfectly located on the Lamlash seafront just a short walk from the village pier, shops, restaurants and bus stop giving access to the whole island and allowing you to leave the car behind. With the beach just across the road and a large village green at the front, this is a perfect holiday destination for all the family. The bench right outside the front door is a favourite spot for relaxing while admiring the view and watching the world go by. Seals are often spotted sunbathing on the nearby rocks along with a wide range of seabirds and the occasional inquisitive dolphin.
Inside this homely cottage you will find a cosy sitting room with a large bay window allowing the natural light to flood in and taking full advantage of the fabulous view. This relaxed room, decorated in a traditional cottage-style with a collection of china, grandfather clock and comfy seating, is an ideal place to spend time after a day exploring this interesting island. The characteristic steep cottage staircase leads up to two double bedrooms and the third compact double bedroom, allowing the cottage to sleep up to 6, is located off the dining room. The well-equipped kitchen leads out to a bright utility room and the family bathroom.
Arran, with its incredible diversity of landscapes and seascapes, is often referred to as “Scotland in Miniature”. There is something for everyone whether you’re looking for an action-packed break or to just get away from it all. Poppa’s Cottage, which is on the island’s east coast just 5 minutes’ drive from the main ferry town of Brodick, is an ideal base and perfect starting point for a memorable holiday.
