Improve your English whilst exploring some of Edinburgh and Glasgow's famous and not so famous sites. This touring course aims to give you a real feel for each city.
You will be based in Edinburgh and spend 4 days in the capital and surrounding areas, taking the train through to Glasgow for 2 one-day trips. Activities and visits may include:
- A guided walking tour of the Georgian New Town and the historic Old Town of Edinburgh. Experience two very different sides to the town and find out about famous Scottish authors, inventors and actors who have shaped the capital.
- A Food Safari with ‘the Woman Who Ate Scotland’. Nell Nelson will tell us about her culinary tour of Scotland for her TV programme and will take us to sample some of Edinburgh's delicious food and drink. You will also find interesting places to eat out while you are in Edinburgh.
- A visit to a whisky distillery outside of Edinburgh, Glenkinchie is the home of the 'Edinburgh Malt'. See some countryside outside the main cities and learn about Scotland's most famous export.
- A visit to one of Edinburgh's less well known castles and a historic house. Edinburgh Castle is the most visited attraction and holds a prominent position in the centre of the city. However, it is not the only castle we have!
- Two one-day trips to Glasgow by train. Each day will be spent with a local guide and focus on a different theme, one will be based around the city's history and culture. The second day will focus on the thriving arts scene taking place in the city and the industrial heritage.
- A walk by the sea and climb up to the top of an extinct volcano for a panoramic view of the Edinburgh and the surroundings.
- English language tuition sessions will take place at our partner school ECS Scotland in Edinburgh and on location in the places we visit. You will be constantly listening to and speaking English. Correction, pronunciation and vocabulary enhancement will be taking place continuously throughout the week, don't forget your notebook!
- Enough free time to have a lie in, go shopping, visit some of the many galleries and museums around Edinburgh, enjoy the gardens and parks, or just relax.
- To get the most out of this touring course the recommended level of English is B1 or higher.
Touring courses start on Sunday afternoon and finish on Friday afternoon.
The price includes English language tuition, learning materials, guided tours with professional guides, entrance fees, food on the Food Safari, train between Edinburgh/Glasgow and whisky tasting.
