A guided ice climbing course on Ben Nevis, Scotland is an opportunity for climbers to learn and develop the essential techniques and skills needed to safely and effectively navigate and climb frozen terrain.
Guided Ice Climbing Course Itinerary
A 1-day guided ice climbing course on Ben Nevis, Scotland usually starts with a meeting at the North Face car park at 08:00. After introductions and a gear check, climbers will make their way to the chosen route with an experienced guide leading the way. The day will be spent developing and refining essential ice climbing techniques, including the use of ice tools and crampons, and learning how to navigate and climb frozen terrain safely and effectively.
The guide/instructor will provide instruction and guidance throughout the day, with the goal of improving each climber’s ability and confidence on the ice. The course typically finishes back at the car around 16:00. And hopefully the weather will be favourable leaving plenty of time to take in the stunning views from the summit of Ben Nevis.
Routes led will vary between grade 1-2 and may include things like Central Gully, Fiacaill Coulouir, the Slant, Central Left Hand or Jacobs Ladder.
