Scott's View near Melrose

The beautiful Borders

Get away from it all in the Borders region south of Edinburgh. You will be treated to the beautiful scenery, ancient ruined abbeys and historic tower houses which inspired the novelist Sir Walter Scott who made his home here.

This driver guided tour takes you to the stunning borderland between Scotland and England. For centuries the borderers were caught in the heart of conflict between the two countries and as a result many families got involved in cattle stealing and were known as Reivers. There are many dramatic tales to tell about their activities. Between the 12th and 16th centuries it was also the power base of the church with numerous abbeys dominating the area. Today they are silent ruins but what stories they can tell. We will be visiting some of these abbeys as well as the pretty towns of Melrose, Jedburgh and Peebles. There is an option to visit Abbotsford, the extraordinary home of Sir Walter Scott. Entry fees are not included. Maximum three passengers. I will be using the TourTalk wireless communication system to ensure social distancing.
