  • John o’Groats with its’ mecca of cafes, tourist outlets and Highland Shop AND the ever popular ‘Journeys End’ signpost
  • Travel via Canisbay Church, Canisbay where the Queen Mother worshipped during her holidays – once belonged to the Sinclairs of Mey.
  • Travel to Mey. A Standard Guided optional extra – Private Tour of the Castle of Mey will give you a great view of the castle and contents (as it was when she passed away in 2002). Built by 4th Earl of Caithness. Tour type to be agreed beforehand.
  • Visit her beloved Gardens of Mey – sit in her chair, enjoy the flowers and scents.
  • Visit the Animal Centre of rare breeds – roaming through the shady woods on the way.
  • Call to the Visitors Centre and enjoy lunch or a cream tea, and perhaps some elegant shopping. Note her favourite blue plaid is used in the decor in the visitors centre.
  • Travel along the Pentland Firth. On a clear day you can see the Orkney Islands and nearby Stroma Island sights that she so loved.
  • Enjoy the views across to her friend’s home, from where she first caught sight of the ruinous castle that he saved.
  • Stop to view over to Thurso Castle once home of her friends – now a ruin.
