Nestled on the shores of Loch Duich on the edge of Ratagan Forest, Saraig is one of two cottages enjoying a peaceful, secluded location in their own little bay. Loch Duich is home to protected coral reefs, otters, herons and many other birds and is frequented by seals and porpoises. The forest is home to many creatures and frequent visitors to Saraig include pine martens and badgers along with bats and many different types of birds.
For guests wanting peace and tranquility, Saraig is ideal. The township road it stands on is little more than a single track which peters out further down the lochside. There is nothing nicer than at the end of the day, going for a peaceful walk along the loch in the moonlight to the sound of lapping waves and rustling trees. On the other end of the scale is the exhilaring battle with stormy winds, watching frothy waves surge up the shore.
The views from Saraig are nothing short of spectacular and change from hour to hour depending on the weather and time of day. All the bedrooms enjoy a loch view as does the lounge. The kitchen overlooks the back garden and forest so gives a ringside seat for guests to watch the pine martens munching their peanutbutter sandwiches on the windowledges.
There are walks of all types and difficulties to suit just about anyone - mountainous, coastal, woodland - even isolated glens. There are many different boat trips (you can also hire boats up the lochside), pony trekking, castles and Iron Age brochs to visit, the Isle of Skye, Glenelg, Plockton, Applecross - the list is endless. A holiday at Saraig offers something to everyone.
SARAIG enjoys a peaceful location with exquisite views accompanied by the timeless sounds of the sea.
