Levenwick is located in the south mainland just off the A970, 17 miles south of Lerwick and 10 miles north of Sumburgh Head. If you are coming south from Lerwick, you will come round a right hand bend and see a road to sign marked 'Levenwick' on your left. IGNORE this ! Carry on along the main road (A970) for about 1/2 mile and you'll see our Community Hall (white building with modern wooden extension) on your left - the campsite is next to the Community Hall
Our campsite is open from May-September. Out-of-season bookings may be possible by prior arrangement only - please contact us.

The hall is available for hire throughout the year and hosts community events to which our visitors are very welcome.

Laundry and simple kitchen facilities are available in our comfortable campsite room where you will find information for visitors, leaflets, maps, local events, wildlife sightings etc.
Our secluded community garden just below the campsite is a peaceful place to sit, picnic, take in the panoramic views and listen and watch for birds such as curlew (whaap), oystercatcher (shalder) great skua (bonxie) - and many more. You may be very lucky and see orcas, dolphins or porpoises and you will certainly see seals! Shetland sheep and ponies often graze on croftland near the campsite.
Levenwick is the perfect spot for night-sky watching.
Want to eat out? The Sumburgh Hotel is a short drive to the south, and heading north to Cunningsburgh (10 minutes drive) you'll find the recently opened Mackenzies Farm Shop & Cafe (nortowerlodges.co.uk). The campsite is an ideal location for exploring Shetland's south mainland and visiting St Ninians Isle, The Crofthouse Museum Sumburgh Head Lighthouse, Visitor Centre and Nature Reserve and much, much more.
There is a small shop in Levenwick and other well-stocked local shops at Bigton and Dunrossness ( 3 miles south of Levenwick), where you can also get fuel.
