Whisky Prestige Coopers Tour

This is is a spectacular 2-day immersion into the world of Scotch Whisky. We have an itinerary that takes us through the Scottish Highlands, Speyside and the Malt Whisky Trail. For the enthusiast with an appetite for a fantastic whisky experience.

On Day 1 we follow the route of our Distillers tour with a first stop at The Glenturret Distillery where we will take a tour of the distillery with an experienced tour guide. This is the oldest working distillery in Scotland today and has just undergone a beautiful renovation of the visitor centre, and restaurants. Today it is still a family owned, independent business. Set in the Perthshire countryside, the distillery holds on vigorously to its artisan roots, producing beautifully handcrafted whiskies with traditional methods.

Pitlochry is our next port of call for some lunch or a short walk around town. Situated at the foot of Ben Vrackie on the River Tummel it really is in a stunning location in the heart of Scotland. There is plenty to see in this lovely Victorian town. There is a great choice of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants all within easy reach on the main street, as well as beautiful outdoor space and river walks to take advantage of.

Next, we make our way to the Dalwhinnie Distillery, beautifully located right in the heart of the highlands. This is the highest distillery in all of Scotland sitting at 352m above sea level, yet still dwarfed by the surrounding Cairngorm mountains. It really is a special location, producing a range of Dalwhinnie single malt and blended whiskies. Here we will take a tour of the distillery to understand the full whisky making process with a chance, of course, to taste a dram or two at the end of the tour. We will round this off with a visit to the distillery shop before we depart.

Heading north to Speyside we will complete day one with an overnight stay. The evening is yours to spend as you wish in our hotel or out in the local town and your host will be happy to help you with recommendations.

Day two will be a leisurely start with breakfast, before we make our way through the malt whisky trail to the Speyside cooperage. Here we will take a tour of the cooperage where you can witness the age-old craft of the cooper and even try your hand on a small scale. You can see the coopers at work from the viewing area above the shop floor.

We then head for our final distillery visit of our journey. We will tour and taste at the oldest working distillery in Scotland. The home of Chivas Regal, Strathisla distillery. You will experience the Strathisla stroll which is a walking and tasting tour. You will not be disappointed with this place. Set in the heart of Speyside they produce some of the world’s best whiskies, it is not to be missed.

Before we begin our journey south, there is opportunity for lunch and some whisky shopping before we head for home.

Our journey will take us past some of Scotland’s most amazing locations. Starting in Edinburgh in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle. Standing watch over Scotland’s capital, there has been evidence of a fort on the rock since the iron age around 1200 BC. This is the most besieged location in Britain. We leave the city and before long we are in Scotland’s wide-open space. We will pass the amazing steel structure of The Kelpies constructed in 2014, they stand proudly in Helix park and are clearly visible from the road.

Next, we are in battle country and we will pass Stirling castle and the Bannockburn battle site, these are locations of much bloodshed in Scotland’s history, synonymous with Braveheart, William Wallace.

As we head further north, we will be passing through some of Scotland’s stunning countryside with mountains that are only topped by Ben Nevis, the highest in Britain, and forests where the tallest trees in the country stand.

On day 2 we will drive through the world famous Malt Whisky Trail, home to 50 working Scotch Whisky distilleries, with plenty of opportunity for photographs and to take in the amazing scenery.

Your tour includes pick up and drop off at your location of choice, exclusive use of a chauffeur driven luxury vehicle with expert whisky host. Chilled water will be provided in the vehicle throughout your tour. In order to give you complete control of costs, entry to distillery tours and attractions, accommodation, meals and drinks are purchased at your discretion. We are more than happy to offer support with bookings and guidance on local amenities.
