The tour is a full day trip exploring 2 beautifully located distilleries with unique spirits to experience. Travelling to the Trossachs National Park, with plenty of stunning scenery on the way and an alternative route home for more stunning views.
After we pick you up at your home or hotel, we will make our way to the beautiful Trossachs National Park and the little village of Deanston near Doune. Here we will visit the Deanston Distillery. This is a wonderful distillery where they produce some terrific whiskies. They are one of the few distilleries where whisky is matured in virgin oak casks, culminating in a spicy sweet liquid like no other. If you are a fan of the TV series Outlander you may recognise some the distillery outbuildings.
From here, we make our way north into the gateway to the highlands and the little Victorian town of Pitlochry. We will stop in town for a chance for some lunch at one of the many cafes and restaurants, a refreshment in a local pub, a visit to some of the many traditional shops or a short walk around town or down by the river. We will then take the short drive to the very beautiful and quaint Edradour Distillery. Despite being renowned as one of the smallest and most unique distilleries in Scotland, they have a wide range of more than 25 single malt whiskies to choose from.
We then make our way back to Edinburgh and the end of our tour where you will be dropped at your hotel or chosen location before saying goodbye.
The Journey
Our journey will take us past some of Scotland’s most amazing locations. Starting in Edinburgh in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle, standing watch over Scotland’s capital, there has been evidence of a fort on the rock since the iron age around 1200 BC, this is the most besieged location in Britain. We leave the city and before long we are in Scotland’s wide-open space. We will pass the amazing Steel structure The Kelpies built in 2014, they stand proudly in Helix park and are clearly visible from the road. We will pass Stirling castle and the Bannockburn battle site, these are locations of much bloodshed in Scotland’s history.
Our return journey will take us back on a different route where we will see the 3 bridges crossing the river forth. We will cross over the recently constructed Queensferry crossing with clear views across to the Forth Road Bridge and the historic landmark and UNESCO world heritage site, Forth Bridge. This bridge has been carrying rail passengers and freight continuously since it opened in 1890 and continues to do so today.
